How Cute! A Pole Dancing Doll For Your Little One!

Thanks to Vanessa over at Feministing for alerting us to this one. We wrote about the pink pole dancing kit "mistakenly" put in the girls' section of a London toy department. There's no mistaking this Tiny Dancer's blinking lights, disco ball, and pole -- it's clearly targeting little girls. But before we all start blogging up a storm, let's figure out if this is a hoax, who makes the doll, if it's for real, and whether or not it's sold as a toy or in toy stores. If we can't, let's stick with the reality that's scary enough (see Miley Cyrus post) and remember that it's not just one toy or one show, but the accumulation of these images that little girls see over time.

At least it's wearing a cute little dress...but maybe marketers are just doing that to mask the R-rated nature of this toy. Sorry, guys.

It's obvious to me, by the awkward text on the box, this was produced and packaged in a foreign country. That might explain the confusing contradictions--child's dress/bare feet + pole dancing. Is it possible there's some cultural misunderstanding or a different attitude about exposing little girls to something like pole dancing? (That wouldn't make it okay! I'm just thinking aloud.)

No surprise folks. I cannot back with proof because it is awhile ago. However, this product was from an Israeli toy company and was not sold within Israel. It was discussed for a few days at one of our male blogger's sites. He was annoyed about these being marketed to goyim girls. An outraged Daddy. Remember who is behind the sexualization of our daughters and it will make sense to you.

THis evening I have been working on a piece about the German 2006 booklets that are being taught. This fits right in for the over all training. Quote:

In other countries they promote pole dancing as a form of aerobic exercise. Maybe because they consider it as a good form of dance. Whereas in the US in is danced by bar girls.

It's a pity about this, becasue there is a very positive side to pole dancing as a fitness regime, and it is really great for building up power and strength in your body. It does get so maligned.
