Today there's a phenomenal column by Bob Herbert in the NY Times. He makes a connection to the singling out of girls in the Amish school house and the way U.S. society ignores all disrespecting, bias, and sexualizing of girls by advertisers and the media. I hope you can read it. He points to the Abercrombie and Fitch t-shirts that we write about in the book, and also this ad, that I found, by Clinique. Also asks about why we can be horrified for 10 years about what happened to Jon Benet but not do anything about it. Lyn and I write about this too, in an op ed, not published yet, saying that society would rather blame MOMS than advertisers and the media. I want to add that I think it's important that a man is saying this at this time. If a woman makes the same point she gets dismissed as self-interested or as another ranting feminist. YAY to Bob Herbert.
Tiems Select for those of us way over here in the Midwest. :-(
Any illegal copies floating around yet? Pretty please?

Have to add my own comment here -- another great article about the Amish shootings by Jackson Katz.
